Owner/Operator Background

Terri Miller, a self-identified "cat magnet" since childhood,  completed coursework in the care and handling of small and large animals at SUNY Delhi (GPA 4.0), and has had basic grooming instruction at a local groomer's. She has been grooming her own cats for years and has refined many techniques to minimize stress to them during this process.

Terri lives with her 3 rescue cats:

Zekie-Joe, a 16-year-old black cat adopted as a feral adult and successfully rehabbed into a people- and treat-loving cuddler.

Next is 13 year old Casey, rescued in "adolescence" as a feral.  Still somewhat skittish, Casey has bonded with Zekie-Joe and  learned how to interact with people from watching her buddy.

Rounding out the group is the mascot of Purrsnipity's, 6 year old Tucker Tim (featured on our Home page).  Tucker was 8 weeks old when he was thrown from a car into rush hour traffic.  Terri was present and scooped him out of the path of danger.  Tucker lost one front leg as a result of this cruelty, but he is full of love and joy for life....he has no idea he is supposed to be "disabled" and can run, play, and jump with the best of them.

They all share their home with a senior rescue collie (Ebbie lou) and two rescue chinchillas (Homer and Maria).

In addition to Terri's hands-on work with animals she has actively advocated for the humane treatment of animals for over a decade,  Her most notable effort was lobbying for the well-known Buster's Law (made cruelty to companion animals a felony in NYS) and she was present on the televised signing on WTEN's "Pet Connection" in 1999.  Her research on the animal-human bond has led to a deeper understanding of the impact animals have in the lives of humans and her work is featured in a national directory published by the Humane Society of the United States.
